Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about commercial generators, backup power, installation requirements, and what to expect from your project.

What size commercial generator does my business need?

Generator size depends on your electrical service, critical loads, equipment, and the amount of your facility you want to keep powered. We evaluate these requirements and recommend a properly sized backup power system.

What can a commercial standby generator power?

Depending on system capacity, a commercial generator can support critical lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, security systems, office equipment, machinery, and other essential business loads.

How does a commercial standby generator work?

When utility power is interrupted, an automatic transfer switch can transfer selected electrical loads to the generator. Once utility power is restored, the system transfers back to normal service.

Where can a commercial generator be installed?

Generator placement depends on the property, equipment specifications, required clearances, electrical and fuel connections, and applicable local requirements. We evaluate the site before recommending an installation location.

How often should a commercial generator be maintained?

Maintenance requirements vary by generator manufacturer, operating conditions, and usage. Routine inspection and scheduled maintenance help keep the system ready when backup power is needed.

Do commercial generator installations require permits?

Permit and inspection requirements vary by jurisdiction and project scope. When required, we coordinate the applicable electrical permitting and inspection process as part of the installation.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I reached out to Quantum Thunder and a few other electricians about my need for an EV charger installed at my house. Andrei was extremely quick in replying, gave a great quote, and was up-front on expectations, costs, etc. The others I reached out to either needed over a week to quote me, refused to permit the work, or threw numbers at me that had no basis in reality. On install day, he was on time, extremely friendly, and did a quick and very clean job. No issues whatsoever during the install and he was appreciative of the work. I charged my car that night.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Quantum Thunder Electric did an outstanding job, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Andrei installed my Level 2 EV charger and the entire experience was smooth from start to finish. The work itself is top-tier: a clean conduit run, a dedicated 240V circuit with a new breaker, proper grounding, and a tidy, weatherproof finish. Everything was done quickly without cutting any corners. Andrei also handled the electrical permit and inspection coordination, so I didn't have to chase anything down. Communication was excellent the whole way through, from the initial quote to the final walkthrough. Pricing was fair and fully transparent — no surprises. If you need an EV charger installed or any electrical work done, this is the team to call. I'd hire them again without hesitation. 5 stars!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I hired this electrician to complete several projects at my home, including an EV charger installation, electrical panel upgrade, installation of additional outlets, and a general inspection of the home’s electrical system. From start to finish, he was professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. He took the time to explain the scope of work, answered all of my questions, and made sure everything was completed safely and up to code. The panel upgrade and EV charger installation were done efficiently, and the additional outlets were installed exactly where I needed them. What I appreciated most was his attention to detail during the electrical inspection. He identified a few issues, explained the potential risks, and provided practical recommendations without any pressure. The work area was kept clean, communication was excellent, and the project was completed on schedule. Finding a reliable electrician you can trust is not always easy, but this was a great experience. I highly recommend him for any residential electrical work, whether it’s an EV charger, panel replacement, troubleshooting, inspections, or new outlet installations. I will definitely be using his services again in the future.

Verified Recently had a Tesla charger installed at our new home, which was already pre-wired, and Quantum Electric was able to come out and complete the installation for significantly less than the other quotes I received. The entire process was fast, professional, and hassle-free. The team was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient, making what I thought would be a complicated project incredibly simple.

Verified Called Quantum Thunder after seeing them referred with great kudos in a Facebook group, and they absolutely live up to their reputation. We had a burned out system of recessed lights and old-style transformers in my daughter's bathroom, and another electrician had quoted thousands. Quantum answered their phone immediately, set an appointment for the next day, and spent a good amount of time assessing the problem. Indeed, fixing the existing system would have been pricey and difficult, as the parts were well-outdated, and would take some hunting or cobbling together of old and new. But rather than try to convince us to do that, they suggested removing the old system entirely and replacing it with a more modern one. While that might have seemed the bigger job, it was actually the simplest thing to do -- and the least expensive. Instead of thousands, the whole job cost $450. The owner, Andrei, is friendly, accommodating, honest and knowledgeable. The other members of his team, whether in the office or on site working with him, were equally friendly, skilled, and easy to deal with. Communication was clear, they showed up exactly when they said they would, and the work is great. They will be my first call from now on, and I cannot recommend them enough. If you've got an electrical issue, absolutely give them a call.

Verified Hire them. I bought my first home about 6 years ago, and what a s***show it's been trying to find help for repairs. I've gotten quotes from other licensed professionals as high as $350 just to come out and take a look after I already sent photos and video. Obv, I'm still salty. Andrei and his team (shoutout to Igor and Alan) helped me with three projects: a blown breaker in my circuit box, a preventive adjustment to safeguard the circuit going forward, and a thoughtful repair to the structure on my roof that houses the municipal lines. The work looks better than anything else on this property, including recent work from other electricians in the area. Andrei and his team worked quickly, but still took the time to explain the situation and walk me through my options in a polite and professional way. They were also respectful about not coming into the house unless necessary. Everything seemed fairly priced. Two challenging things that I won't deduct stars for: payment was requested upfront which made me nervous, but they came through (whew), and one of the repairs took a little longer than expected and required an extra day of work. Minor concerns in the end, because ultimately I just want the job done well and to feel like I'm dealing with honest people who explain things clearly. I already have two more projects in mind for Quantum Thunder. Looking forward to the next one.

Verified Quantum Thunder - Incredible name incredible service. Andrei was super knowledgeable and professional. I was sent a text with his picture for easy and safe identification and then he arrived on time (actually a bit early) and knocked the problem out 1-2-3. I would highly recommend him and them.

Verified Andrei and his team did a great job in troubleshooting and identifying the source of stray voltage present on our plumbing pipes. They were able to isolate and installed a dedicated electrical circuit by running new wiring underneath the house through a crawl space. In addition Andrei also did water heater bonding on our water heater as mandated by local codes. I was really impressed with the services they provided and to top it off they charge less and reasonable compared to the estimate I got from other electrical service company. Quantum Thunder is highly recommended for all your electrical services need.

Verified Andrei answered the phone, gave me a quote and came by the next day. Installed my Tesla wall charger just like I wanted, provisioned cleaned up and made sure I was happy before taking off to the next job. As the install progressed he pointed out how he was both installing to code, and following manufacturer instructions. For turn around time, politeness, great attitude, and straight up quality of work I would reach out to them again anytime! Most tradesmen who drop by think they know what you want better than you, Andrei listened to my desires and did a great Job with those limit's. (Installed in series, 50 amps not 60, provisioned but let me handle the technical/software parts. Conduit is clean and secure, installed ev charger is nicely parallel to it's neighbor, and square to the floor. Some of these basics get bypassed by others.
